A project such as this provided us the opportunity to create an environment that will stimulate the imagination and creativity of the children. Prior to 2014 the Children’s Room at the Caldwell Public Library, which houses books and computers for the Library’s youngest patrons, had not been remodeled or updated from its initial construction in 1975 which was designed by Keys, Olson, & Ensley Architects.
This architect led design/build project brought an exciting new interior which engages and encourages children in exploration and learning. Trout Architects reorganized the space into segmented areas for various activities from computer learning to quiet reflective reading areas, all scaled for the smaller patron. New carpet was installed, furniture was reupholstered and refinished. With the help of Studio2000, we designed and installed large, wooden representational “trees” to create a canopy feel to the room. Custom wall imagery was also designed.
